13 Years Ago Today...July 6th

It was thirteen years ago today that I went to Calgary for the Vans Warped Tour. This was the first one held in Calgary. The bands I went to see on this tour were Hot Water Music, Snapcase, Green Day, Long Beach Dub All-Stars and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones among many others.

Also on this day twelve years ago I saw Stompin' Tom Connors play in Calgary at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. Rest In Peace Stompin' Tom, you are missed.

And it was ten years ago today that I was in Montreal and saw the Foo Fighters with Pete Yorn and My Morning Jacket play at the Verdun Auditorium.

Concert Shirt/Poster Of The Day Apr.29th (Vans Warped Tour)

Today's t-shirt is from the first Vans Warped Tour I went to, this show was in 2000 in Calgary at the Race City Motorsport Park. I went to this show with my brother. This was an awesome line up including bands Green Day, Snapcase, Hot Water Music, The Bosstones, Long Beach Dub All-Star Band and many others. My brother and I had a great time at this concert. This was probably the best Warped Tour line up ever.

Ticket Stub Of The Day Jan.12th

Today's ticket stub is from the Edge Fest concert that Geddy, A-Bomb and I went to in Calgary at Race City Speedway in 1998. We met my brother in Calgary for this show and hung with him for most of the concert. The main bands we wanted to see and saw at Edge Fest were Foo Fighters and Green Day, both bands were quite good. Geddy, A-Bomb and I got a really good buzz on at this show and were starting to get on my brothers nerves, some how we managed to lose my brother at the show which did not impress him much, as the concert site is a ways out of the city, and he had to find his own way home. Geddy was driving, and we drove back in to the city, which we should not have done,we managed to get lost trying to get back in to Calgary, just a fiasco, and then later had to apologize to my bro for being drunken dicks, sorry again Bro.

Concert Poster Of The Day Aug. 18th (Green Day)

Today's poster is from the first time I saw Green Day in concert in 1995. This show was at the Edmonton Coliseum with The Riverdales opening. Green Day were touring for their Insomniac album. What I recall from this show was that it was super short. I had a couple friends show up later thinking they would just miss the opening act but ended up missing Green Day as well. Green Day only played for like 45minutes which is quite short for a headlining band, and they had enough music out at that time to play for longer then that. The show was good, just way too short. But then, back in 1995 Green Day was considered punk and I guess that's what punk bands do, play short energetic shows.
