Concert Shirt Of The Day Jan.31st (Helix)

Today's t-shirt is from a Helix concert I saw in 1985 when Helix were touring for their 'Long Way To Heaven" album, but be damned if I can find a ticket stub or ad for this show. All my t-shirts are from shows I have attended, but I am dumbfounded about this one. No idea who Helix played with , but am sure this show would have been at The Convention Centre.

KISS Collectible Of The Day Jan.30th

Today's KISS Collectible is a puzzle I got for Xmas a few years ago. I finally got the bright idea of putting together this thousand piece puzzle that is 20"X27" in size. This puzzle came out in 2007 and produced by Aquarius Entertainment.

Back of box.

Thousand pieces, let the fun begin.

Border done, that was fun,NOT.

Day 5, not getting any easier.

Day 12, I give up.

Well, you don't get to see a picture of the finished product, cause I fucking give up. I don't have the time or patience for puzzles, done, never again. I have come to the conclusion that I fucking hate puzzles and hope to never see another one. Fuck puzzles!!!

Concert Shirt Of The Day Jan.30th (Pink Floyd)

Today's t-shirt is from the second and third time I saw Pink Floyd in concert. These shows were in 1994 when Pink Floyd were touring for their album 'Division Bell'. I made the trip to Vancouver to see them play at BC Place Stadium in front of 60,000 people. I went to this show with my brother, both of us on psychedelics. before the concert we were outside the stadium tripping out and drinking beers and trying to sell an extra ticket that we had, don't recall why we had an extra one, but we did. We eventually sold it to a homeless guy for a handful of change, making his day as he really wanted to see the concert. Out of the handful of change the guy gave me, I gave back enough change to the guy so that he could buy himself a beer at the show, talk about a guy being appreciative. He thanked us many times over. BC Place is a domed stadium, which made for an excellent light show and sound, just an amazing concert. After the show, my brother and I were walking outside the stadium and for some reason walking against the flow of traffic of thousands of people, if that wasn't bad enough, we are still tripping as many other people are as well, and at the time my brother had bright green mohawk, which made for a lot of people pointing and making comments about his hair, we laughed and laughed, good times indeed.

Two days later I made the trek back to Edmonton to see Pink Floyd play in front of 60,000 people at Commonwealth Stadium. This show was at an outdoor stadium which was cool, but in the summer in Edmonton, it doesn't get dark til 11 o'clock at night, so the light show and lasers didn't work as well here as in Vancouver. Nonetheless, another awesome performance by Pink Floyd.

Concert Shirt Of The Day Jan.29th (Motorhead)

Today's t-shirt is from the fourth time I saw Motorhead in concert. I went to this show with Cuz in 2005 at Red's in Edmonton. And again it was another great show by the mighty Motorhead, very loud and very good, what was interesting about this show was Lemmy coming out for the encore and playing the song 'Whorehouse Blues' on acoustic guitar. We missed the first two bands Damn 13 and 3 Inches Of Blood but did catch Corrosion Of Conformity who I thought were very good as well. A fun night of old school metal celebrating their 30th anniversary.

In concert news... Motorhead will be playing in Edmonton on Wednesday February 9th touring for their new album 'The World Is Yours' at the Edmonton Events Centre with opening bands Clutch and Valiant Thorr.

I thought I would include this concert shirt in this post. I wasn't at this show in 1982, but my buddy Geddy was and gave me this shirt years ago.

Ticket Stub Of The Day Jan.28th (Big Sugar)

Today's ticket stub is from the first time I saw Big Sugar in concert. This show was in 1994 at People's Pub in Edmonton. Big Sugar was only a three piece band when I first saw them but very loud, sound like an army of guitars, when it was just Gordie Johnson wailing away. After seeing them play live, I was hooked and haven't missed many performances by Big Sugar or Gordie's new band Grady. The place wasn't very full for this show, but that didn't stop him from playing an awesome concert.

In Big Sugar news... it looks like Big Sugar are recording new songs for an album, this would be the first Big Sugar album since 2001.

Concert Shirt Of The Day Jan.27th (Tool)

Today's t-shirt is from the first time I saw Tool in concert. This show was in 2002 with Meshuggah opening at The Skyreach Centre in Edmonton. I never got into the band Tool til I got the album Lateralus, after hearing and bugging out to that album, I thought I need to see them live. I got my chance in 2002 to see them. This show was fucking unbelievable, super psychedelic and awesome musicianship. I left this show being a huge fan.

Ticket Stub Of The Day Jan.26th (BTO)

Today's ticket stub is from the Bachman Turner Overdrive (aka BTO) concert Nerraw and I went to in 1990 at The Convention Centre in Edmonton. This was when the Convention Centre still served beer by the pitcher, I recall Nerraw and I being whacked out of our heads on mushrooms and drinking beer out of pitchers all night, no cups needed here. Good times!!!!

Concert Shirt/Poster Of The Day Jan.25th (Mighty Mighty Bosstones/Gadjits)

Today's concert shirt is actually a hoodie I bought at the Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Gadjits double bill my buddy Psycho and I went to at the Golden Garter in Edmonton in 2000. I had won these tickets through Vue Magazine, a weekly entertainment mag for Edmonton.

This was a great double bill of amped up ska music at a cool venue. It was my first time seeing The Gadjits in concert, and I have to say I really enjoyed their set. Good times!!!

Front of hoodie small logo on chest.

Concert Poster Of The Day Jan.24th (Danko Jones)

Today's concert poster is from the third time I saw Danko Jones in concert. This show was at Red's in West Edmonton Mall in 2001. A shitty venue and show this was. It was at this show where I started to get sick of his shtick, little too cheesie for me. I went to this show with A-Bomb and his brother Ryan.

In concert news... Danko Jones will be playing at The Pawn Shop in Edmonton this Wednesday January 26th.

KISS Collectible Of The Day Jan.23rd

Today's KISS Collectible is the 1977 studio album Love Gun that came out on Casablanca Records. I have always liked the cover art for this album which was done by Ken Kelly whom also did the cover for the album 'Destroyer'. Love Gun was also the first KISS album to have an Ace Frehley on lead vocals for his signature song 'Shock Me' Another famous song on the album is called 'Plaster Caster' which is about a groupie in the 70's who collected castings of musicians penises. The album also came with a cardboard cut out Love Gun which I have never seen in person, only pictures. I need to find one to complete this album. Can someone help me with this?

Concert Shirts Of The Day Jan.23rd (Iron Maiden)

This is actually the second time I have posted about this concert. I found the other t-shirts I bought.

Today's t-shirt is one I bought back in 1987 when I saw Iron Maiden with opening band Waysted at Northlands Coliseum. Maiden were touring for their album called Somewhere In Time. I like what they called this tour "Somewhere On Tour". I actually bought a few t-shirts at this show, as I was a huge Maiden fan and had money to blow back then. Also t-shirts didn't cost you an arm and a leg back then either.
