October 17th

My ticket stub from the time I saw the Supersuckers on October 17th, 2001 at New City Likwid Lounge in Edmonton. This was the first of two nights they did at New City. The first night which was the 17th was their Country set and the following night they did a Rock set. Boyh shows were awesome but I really enjoyed the country set even more.

Supersuckers Live In Edmonton Oct.24th 2014

Last Friday night my Cuz and I went to the Supersuckers, Dolly Rotten and Penetrator triple bill at the Pawn Shop here in Edmonton.

First band of the evening was Penetrator who are from Edmonton and play a punk style of music. I believe this was there first show. They were alright, nothing special, there lyrics all had to do with sex. The lead singer had big presence, taking over the stage like a mad man.

Next up was another local band that I had not heard of before, they were called Dolly Rotten and led by female singer Lacy. I was quite surprised by this band, they were good playing there hard rock with a little country influence, and lead singer Lacy was very easy on the eyes and had a decent voice as well. A great band leader, the rest of the band was really good too. The steel guitar was a nice touch to the band and music as well. All and all a great up and coming Edmonton band.

Headliner of the evening from Arizona was the self proclaimed "Greatest Rock'N'Roll Band in the World" the Supersuckers. This was my fifth time seeing the band play live, and second time within the last year and a half. If you have seen the band before you pretty much know what your in for, and again they didn't disappoint. Nice to see that it is still all the same members in the band from the last time I saw them which is Dan 'Thunder' Bolton on guitar an original member all the way back from 1988, 'Metal' Marty Chandler on guitar, 'Captain' Chris Von Streicher on drums and of course Eddie Spaghetti on bass and vocals. The Supersuckers are on the road touring for their latest album "Get The Hell" which is the best album they have released in a long time. The band sounded super tight and were full of energy and rocked the shit out of the Pawn Shop, even though the venue was far from sold out.

The Supersuckers opened the show with the title song "Get The Hell" from their 2014 release, then into "Fuck Up" along with other such classics as "Bad Bad Bad", "Gluttonous" "I Want The Drugs", "Pretty Fucked Up", you get a sense of what the Supersuckers are all about, having a fucking good time drinkin' and druggin'. Good times!!!

Supersuckers In Edmonton May 30th 2013

Well I made my way to the Pawn Shop last night by myself, cause all my friends are light weights (damn work) to see the triple bill of local band The Preying Saints, Lydia Loveless and the Supersuckers. I got there for the tail end of the Preying Saints, and from what I saw and heard, I didn't miss much, not really my thing, boring same old rock-a-billy. But I was sure to be there for the other opener Lydia Loveless.

Lydia Loveless is an artist from Columbus, Ohio who plays a country punk rock style of music with a voice that chills you to the bone. This lady can sing, and yet she is such a tiny lady, hell I think her guitar is as tall as she is. What she lacks in stature she makes up with her singing abilities and guitar playing. This three piece band killed it last night and won over the small audience with her first visit to Edmonton. The band played for about forty-five minutes playing lots from her 2011 album "Indestructible Machine". The album is full of drinking songs and even a song about being stalked by Steve Earle, and of course the song is called "Steve Earle". A great opener and look forward to seeing her again.

Next up was headliners the self proclaimed "Greatest Rock N' Roll Band In The World" the Supersuckers. This was my fourth time seeing the band in concert and this time was way better then the last time I saw them when they opened for Pearl Jam back in 2005. The Supersuckers are best seen in a club setting, and the Pawn Shop was the right venue for them. Lead singer/bass player Eddie Spaghetti was sounding good on this night and had the crowd in the palm of his hands right from the get go. They came out rocking and didn't let up at all through out their hour and a half set. It would have been nice to see them do a couple of acoustic numbers from their country album "Must've Been High" but not on this night. They played songs covering their whole career including a couple songs from my favorite Supersuckers album "La Mano Cornuda", playing "On The Couch" and "Mudhead". Other favorites played were "Born With A Tail", "Hot Rod Rally", "Gone Gamblin", "How To Maximize Your Kill Count", "Rock N' Roll Records (Ain't Selling This Year)", and "Supersucker Drive-By Blues" in which the whole crowd was singing along to this one raising the middle digit. they also did two new songs last night, one of them was called "Something About You". The song was like any other Supersuckers song, balls to the wall rock n' roll. All and all a great night of some dirty raw rock n' roll. Good times!!!
