Rich Hope and La Chinga Live in Vancouver Oct.20th 2018

On our last night in Vancouver my Cuz and I went to the La Chinga and Rich Hope and His Evil Doers double album release party at the Rickshaw Theatre. This would be my first time seeing La Chinga and second time seeing Rich Hope in concert.

Opening the show was the Vancouver power trio La Chinga. The band was celebrating the release of their new album Beyond The Sky. This is a band I have been following for years now but have never had the chance to see them live before as they never come up to Edmonton for a show. So I was lucky that they happened to be playing while we were in Vancouver.

La Chinga consist of Ben Yardley on guitar and vocals, Carl Spackler on bass and vocals and rounded out by drummer Jason Solyom. If you're looking for 70's influenced rock n' roll this is the band for you. They mix the best of old school rock like Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy and Sabbath with a metal edge.

Their hour long show was rocking with the new songs blending in perfect with their old stuff. I loved the energy from the band and Carl's vocals were stellar, with guitarist Ben channeling the moves and sounds of Jimmy Page. Can't forget drummer Jason whom pounded it out with a great groove all night. I was very impressed with their live performance and hope to see them make there way to Edmonton soon. Headlining the night was another great Vancouver act Rich Hope and His Evil Doers who were also celebrating the release of their new album I'm All Yours, but sadly the vinyl wasn't available at the show.

Rich and his band of Evil Doers put on a rocking show mixing elements of rock, blues and soul, even having a couple horn players with him. Rich sounded great and the man can play any kind of music. Good times!!!
