James Cotton/Johnny Winter Live In Edmonton 02/25/2011

Warning, post is wrote under the influence of substances.

Tonight Buzzard, Hurl and I just saw probably one of the best double bill blues shows of my life. Legendary harp blues man James Cotton opening for legendary blues guitar player Johnny Winter at the Polish Hall in Edmonton, wow, how the fuck does it get better then that. First time I have seen James Cotton play in concert, while he may no longer sing lead vocals, the man can still play kick ass harp, very impressive. And the man sitting in vocals is no slouch either, and then there is the bass player whom can lay it down some dirty, wow, I haven't heard some kick ass bass like that in a very long time, very impressive. As for James Cotton, for a man in his mid seventies I sure didn't expect him to play for the hour and a half he did. Kick ass show James, you got the place a rockin'!!! And you can still play a mean harp, very very impressed.

At the end of James Cotton's set, he signed autographs at the side of the stage which was super cool.

Next up was Johnny Winter, well you never know what kind of show you may get from Johnny. Well this evening, it's looking like ol' Johnny is getting his shit together which is nice to see. The last time I saw Johnny Winter in 2007 was good, well this time was even better, nice to see him still playing with the same band members and putting on an unbelievable rock n' blues show, Johnny has got his shit together. good work guys.

It was some cool to see James and Johnny together belting out the song 'Mojo Working' wow, they fucking kicked that song out, so rocking!!! Johnny Winter had together tonight, which was nice to see, he was kicking out the tunes big time.

Johnny Winter played one hell of a show this evening, looking good and sounding even better. He was rippin' it up on the guitar tonight.

Because this show was such a success, we will be doing it all again Friday Oct. 14th, same venue, same bands.

The only sour note of the evening was the gentle man having a heart attack right next to our table. Thankfully Buzzard and I were outside having a smoke, but Hurl had a front row seat for it. Luckily there was a doctor and nurse in the house that were quick to help and get him stabilized. Here is hooping everything is ok with him.
