Ticket Stub Of The Day Feb.13th (Metallica)

Today's ticket stub is from the sixth time I saw Metallica in concert, this show was in Calgary at The Saddledome in 1992. This is a continuation from yesterdays post actually...

And now the rest of the story... So Hurl and I decide that we are going to hitch a ride with Nerraw to Calgary in the company truck that Nerraw was driving, as he did deliveries in Calgary on Thursdays. We are gonna see Metallica again, Nerraw is going to check out the show with us as well. So, of course, we drank all the way to Calgary and had Nerraw stop at the liquor store before dropping us off at The Saddledome. Nerraw went off to do his deliveries and is going to meet us at the venue when he is done. Our goal of the day was to get a good buzz on and find the roadie I had been talking to in Edmonton, and try and score some tix and passes of some sort, pit passes or backstage passes. Oh ya, none of us had tickets for the sold out show either. So we had some shmoozing to do.

Well after hanging out for a few hours at The Saddledome we met a kid from Sweden that was hanging out trying to meet Metallica as well. We hung out with him for a few hours, not really wanting to, but we couldn't shake this kid. Hurl and I had found a good place under a bridge to hide our beers. We finally got bored and went to the casino by the venue for a few beers where we met a black guy selling drugs. Hurl and I being who we are, hooked up with this guy and bought some, this made the afternoon go by a little quicker. By late afternoon, we finally saw the roadie that I had talked to in Edmonton. We got talking to him and he remembered me from Edmonton. I asked again if he would hook us up with pit passes or backstage passes for the show. He asked what we had to offer. Well, thankfully, Hurl and I had just scored at the casino, as for the Swedish kid, he had nothing. So we did a little bit of our drugs with the roadie under the bridge, had a few beers and hung out for a bit. He said he would hook us up with passes. One problem, we had no tickets for the show either. He said he would help with tickets too. We were told to go to the will call ticket window an hour before the show and there would be an envelope there with tickets and passes.

Nerraw met us at the Saddledome a couple of hours before the show and had some beers with us and the Swedish guy. An hour before the show Hurl and I went to the will call ticket window to see if we had got tickets or not. We got Nerraw to keep the Swedish guy busy while we went to the ticket office. Lo and behold there were 3 tickets to the show and 3 pit passes for us. We then found Nerraw and the other guy, we told the Swedish guy that there was a ticket for him but no pit pass. He wondered why, we said, probably cause you had nothing to offer to the roadie like we did. Hey, be happy you got a ticket. So we ditched him and then gave the pit pass to Nerraw, and found a ticket for him to get into the show. Mission accomplished, what an excellent show it was too, being in the middle of the stage while Metallica pounded it out. The stage was a diamond shape, thus being able to be in the middle of the stage. That is one Metallica show I will never forget. Good times!!!!!

Pit Pass.
