 It was on June 25th, 2011 that I was at Wunderbar here in Edmonton and saw the great double bill of C'mon and Eamon McGrath.

Today's posters are from the times I have seen the Toronto band C'mon in concert.

In concert news...Ian Blurton whom was the front man of the band C'mon will be playing in Edmonton with his new band Public Animal on Saturday August 22nd at The Brixx with opening band from Calgary Napalmpom, a great double bill of rock n' roll.

Seven Inch Saturday (C'mon/Pride Tiger)

Today's seven inch single is a split seven inch with two great Canadian bands. The two are C'mon and Pride Tiger and sadly neither band is still together.

This single came out in 2009 and was first available while both bands toured together in may of 2009. I saw this double bill at the Pawn Shop here in Edmonton, which is where I picked this up. This single came out on Yeah Right Records! in a limited run of 600 copies and features a silk screened cover art, mine is number 193 of 600 on black vinyl. Only 200 copied were released on black vinyl while the other 400 were orange vinyl.

Side Yeah features the Toronto band C'mon which is led by Ian Blurton, of whom has been in such bands as Change Of Heart, Blurtonia and C'mon. Ian has also produced a lot of albums in between his own bands. Ian is now in a band called Public Animal.

The song is called Stealing Seconds which is a great garage rock n' roll song.

Side Right features the Vancouver band Pride Tiger who was led by Matt Wood on drums and vocals, something you don't see very often. Matt now drums for the metal band Bison. Pride Tiger only released one full length album which was called Lucky Ones, a great album by the way.

The song by Pride Tiger on this release is a song called No Distractions which reminds me of a mix of Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy.

8 Years Ago Today...May 17th

It was eight years ago today that I saw the great double bill of ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead with The (International) Noise Conspiracy at Red's here in Edmonton.





And it was also on this date four years ago that I saw another great double bill of two awesome Canadian bands C'mon from Toronto and Pride Tiger from Vancouver at the Pawn Shop here in Edmonton.

C'mon with Eamon McGrath and Krang Live At The Wunderbar June 25th 2011

Last night my buddy Hurl and I went and saw Toronto band C'mon led by I an Blurton with local band Krang and ex-Edmontonian now Toronto based Eamon McGrath at the Wunderbar just off Whyte Avenue in Edmonton.

This was my first time going to Wunderbar which is just a little hole in the wall bar that holds maybe a couple hundred people at the most. It's got a cool dive bar feel to it, looking like a basement. I went to order a Budweiser when we first got there, only to find out that they don't sell any Molson or Labatt products. What they do have is, over 80 different micro brewery beers, cool. Nice to see a bar support the small breweries. So last night we had a fair share of different kind of beers. Which might explain why I feel like shit today.

Anyways, the show started off with Eamon McGrath and his old Edmonton band backing him up The Wild Dogs. This was my first time seeing Eamon perform, I have read and heard lots about him. He not only plays rock n' roll, but also folk and punk music. On this evening, it was good old rock n' roll. I thought they sounded real good and put on a hell of show, with lots of energy and good vibes. My only complaint was, I think you had to be over six feet tall to be at the front of the stage. Like, holy fuck, it's hard to see the band when you have a bunch of tall pumpkin heads obstructing your view. Stand the fuck back you tall bastards, so that everyone else can see the band too. Nonetheless good band and great music.







Next band up was Krang, a band I had never heard of before. When they first came on, I didn't think much of them, I just thought they were a loud bad metal band. Well after a few songs and a smoke outside, I started to really dig there fuzzed out, sludgy psychedelic style of metal. They were actually really a tight band and trippy. I have to say, by the end of their set, I was a fan. They kind of reminded me of the band Earthless. I didn't get any pictures of these guys, as I was standing near the back and was kind of tripping out. Good stuff though guys.

Next up were headliners C'mon from Toronto. This was my third time seeing this awesome three piece band play live. Lead singer guitar player Ian Blurton and drummer Dean Bentley and bass player Katie Lynn Campbell know how to play loud balls to the wall rock n' roll. Ian the guitarist never ceases to amaze me how fucking good he is, no pedals or effects, just all out giver shredding. By the end of the night, my ears were a ringing, I was sweating and drunk, a great night of music from three wicked bands. If you get the chance to see a band at Wunderbar, I highly recommend going,great venue, good selection of beers and great staff as well. Good times!!!

In concert news... Eamon McGrath will be playing in Edmonton again on Saturday July 2nd at The Empress Ale House on Whyte Avenue.

Concert Shirt/Poster Of The Day May 9th (C'mon)

Today's t-shirt is from the first time I saw Toronto band C'mon play live. This show was a triple bill of some great Canadian rock at The Pawn Shop in 2009. The other bands on the bill were Vancouver band Pride Tiger and local band Whitey Houston, all three bands kicked ass on this evening. I went to this show with Hurl and A-Bomb. Good times!!!!

C'mon In Concert 07/03/10

Last night Saturday July 3rd my friend Hurl and I caught C'mon from Toronto in concert at The Pawn Shop on Whyte Ave (advance tickets were only 5 dollars). This show kind of came out of nowhere as I didn't hear about it til I saw a poster on the ave for it on Canada Day. With so little advertising for this show, there wasn't a very good turn out, nonetheless C'mon came out rocking hard and loud like they were playing to thousands of people. C'mon are touring for their new album "Beyond The Pale Horse" which I picked up on CD for 7 dollars. What I heard from the album that they played last night, it sure sounds like another straight up balls to the wall rock album. For a three piece band consisting of Ian Blurton on guitar/vocals,Katie Lynn on bass/vocals and Dean Bentley on drums they sure do make a lot of noise. Another great evening of rock n' roll from C'mon, this was my second time seeing them and they just keeping getting better. I look forward to the next time they come through town. I would give this show a 9 out of 10.



This has got to be one of the coolest ticket stubs I have ever got for a bar show.

Whitey Houston,Pride Tiger and C'Mon @ The Pawn Shop

Sunday night was a good triple bill of all Canadian music at The Pawn Shop. While Monday was a holiday, I have to say that Sunday isn't a night for all out partying to some great bands. I must be getting old, it just didn't seem to be as happening as I thought it would be.
The night started with local duo Whitey Houston rocking the venue, they sure make a lot of noise for a bass player and drummer and of course the hot lady playing the maracas in the background. The place was quite full for these guys.
Next up was Pride Tiger from Vancouver with their 70's influenced Thin Lizzy sound, they rocked the joint. I have to say the drummer/lead singer is a lot of fun to watch perform, he seems very happy to be doing what he does, always smiling,banging away and the woo's here and there, fun band, good tunes. Second time I have seen them in the last year and wasn't disappointed.


Headliners C'Mon (from Toronto) lead by Ian Blurton formerly of Change Of Heart were next. For a 3 piece band they play some dirty rock n' roll with no letting up during their hour long set. But you could see the place emptying out as the night went on. I wasn't the only one not quite ready to rock out on a Sunday. Kind of a shame actually.
All and all, not a bad night of music, just wish it had been on a Friday or Saturday. I give this show a 7 out of 10. I went to this show with A Bomb and Earl.
