  On April 2nd, 2022 I saw the Los Angeles band Starcrawler play the Foundry On Whyte in Edmonton. Opening the show was a local artist by the name of Robin Cisek.

Night two of a Starcrawler weekend. Same venue and pretty much the same opening bands as the night before. I think there was one different band. Still wasn't much of a fan of the openers other then Calgary band Exit Division. This show was an 18 plus only show, so no kids this time. Lots of people in costumes again. The show was supposed to be at a church but was moved to The Foundry On Whyte, same place as Friday nights show.

This would be my fourth time seeing Starcrawler in concert, and like the night before, the band kicked ass. Pretty much the same setlist as the Friday show if I remember correctly. I really need to do my reviews in timely matter. Six months later it's hard to remember all the details. I do recall from this show lead singer Arrow de Wilde commenting on how much the band have enjoted their time in Edmonton and Canada and how friendly everyone is. Arrow went on to say you Canadians would do anything we ask. She then went on to say "sing O' Canada" for me. And sure enough the whole audience sand the national anthem for her. Can't say I have ever seen that happen at a show before, so that was cool. Also during the show guitarist Henri Cash wandered off the stage while playing and went down the stairs of the venue on to the street. I was lucky enough to be standing by the stairs and got a few pictures of him coming back up the stairs. All and all this show was amazing. Such a great band to see live. Good times!!! Starcrawler.

Starcrawler Live in Edmonton October 28th 2022

I was quite excited to see the Los Angeles band Starcrawler come back through town for not one but two shows on Halloween weekend at the small intimate venue The Foundry On Whyte. The first show on Friday night would be my third time seeing the band. I went to this show with A-Bomb and Cuz. Starcrawler were on the road promoting their latest release "She Said". The show was all ages which meant there were some kids at the show all dressed up in Halloween costumes, parents dressed up as well. Felt kind of weird to see a bunch of little kids at a Starcrawler show. By the time Starcrawler came on, a lot of the kids were gone, which was cool by me. There were a bunch of bands opening the show, most of them I didn't care for. Opening bands were Edmonton bands Robin Cisek, Stem Champ, Tebby & The Heavy and Calgary band Exit Division. I didn't mind Exit Division, a young band but seem to have a good thing going. Exit Division.

After a whole bunch of bands that I didn't really care for it was time for Starcrawler. Because it was Halloween weekend the band were all in costumes. Again Starcrawler were amazing live, the new music from She Said sounds better live then on the album. They mixed their set well with songs from all three of their releases. The band was in fine form and lead singer Arrow de Wilde was in fine form. She has got one of the beast screams in rock n' roll right now. It was a high energy hour long set. They even did the Ramones song "Pet Sematary". Really enjoyed their set and wish it had gone on longer. Good times!!! Starcrawler.

Starcrawler Live in Edmonton April 2nd 2022

Here is a show I stumbled upon by finding a flyer for the show on the sidewalk of Whyte Avenue. I saw it and had to double back to see if it was actually what I thought it was. And to my surprise and pleasure it was a show for Los Angeles band Starcrawler at The Foundry On Whyte, a venue I didn't even know existed. Thank goodness I saw this flyer I would never have known about this concert. I had seen Starcrawler in 2018 in Vancouver opening for MC50, and they blew me away, This was a band I would have to see again. And lo and behold, here they were, coming to Edmonton. I promptly picked up a ticket for this show and the show was only a week away. This was my first time being to the venue Foundry On Whyte. It's a small room with a capacity of probably a hundred people and feels like a banquet room more then a live music venue. From my understanding and now knowing, it a all purpose room (banquets, weddings, live music and such). I got to the venue early not knowing what to expect. Being one of the first people there, I got to meet the gentleman that books events for the place. Had a nice chat with him (Jon) and he gave me three drink tickets, so that was cool. Off to a good start. The Foundry On Whyte.

Opening the show was Indigenous artist Robin Cisek from Edmonton. Her music is an electro-pop style with no band just a keyboard and backing tracks, not really my kind of music. Seemed like an odd opener for a rock n' roll band like Starcrawler. Robin Cisek.

By the time Starcrawler hit the stage the venue was quite full. I wasn't sure what to expect, as the last time I saw the band lead singer Arrow de Wilde put on one wild show, with antics like spitting blood, wrapping her mic cord around her throat to the point I thought she was offing herself right on stage, squirming on the floor of the stage. She was just wild on stage and her band were amazing. So what were we going to see on this evening. The first thing you notice about Stawcrawler when you see them live his how skinny lead singer Arrow is but also how energetic and how she commands the stage with her presence and her amazing rock n'roll/punk vocals. Opening the show with the rocking tune Lizzy from their second album Devour You. Their hour long set rocked from start to finish, they even played a couple of new songs from their upcoming album. On this night there were no crazy antics, just Arrow commanding the stage (though there was no stage) and her band rocking the fuck out, a great back up band that is tight and loud. I have to admit I was hoping to see some of the crazy stage antics but it was also good to see that this is a band that doesn't just rely on that kind of schtick. An amazing band and can't wait to hear the new album and see them play live again. Good times!!! Starcrawler.
