Seven Inch Saturday (Fake Problems / Gaslight Anthem)

Today's seven inch single, also works for my cover song of the day. It is the Fake Problems / Gaslight Anthem split single. Side A is the song from the Naples, Florida band Fake Problems, the song being "Songs For Teenagers" from their 2010 album Real Ghosts Caught On Tape released on SideOneDummy Records.

The B Side is a cover of the Fake Problems song "Songs For Teenagers" covered by the New Jersey band Gaslight Anthem. I really like this version of the song as well. The single was released in 2011 and limited to 500 copies on neon green vinyl.

I was lucky too have seen both these bands play together back in 2010 in Edmonton when Fake Problems opened for Gaslight Anthem.

Seven Inch Sunday (Bee Gees/Faith No More)

Today's seven inch single is one I picked up last weekend on Record Store Day. This single is part of the RSD Side By Side series. It features the song "I Started A Joke" by the Bee Gees, that originally came out in 1968 on their album Idea. Faith No More went on to cover it as a B-Side for their song "Digging The Grave", it was eventually released on their 1995 album King For A Day...Fool For A Lifetime.

Seven Inch Sunday (Flaming Lips/Mastodon)

Today's seven inch single is split seven inch featuring the Flaming Lips song A Spoonful Weighs A Ton from their 1999 album The Soft Bulletin. Side B has the band Mastodon covering the Flaming Lips song. This single was a Record Store Day 2012 release on baby pink vinyl.

Seven Inch Saturday (Wilco)

Today's seven inch single is from Wilco. This single which includes the two songs I Might on the A Side and I Love My Label on the B Side. The single was the first release on Wilco's own label dBpm. The B side song I Love My Label is a Nick Lowe cover which is a fitting song considering Wilco had severed ties with the major label they were on and started their own label dBpm.

The song on Side A I Might was a song that was released on their 2011 album The Whole Love. The single I have is a black vinyl version but there is also a blue vinyl version that was available through their online store.

Seven Inch Sunday (Black Crowes)

Today's seven inch is the Black Crowes 1996 album Three Snakes And One Charm album that was released as a 7" vinyl edition box set containing seven singles a poster and a seven inch single adapter that looks like the album cover. One of the singles contains two songs that were not available on the album. The two songs are "Just Say You're Sorry" and the Bob Marley song "Pimper's Paradise".

This album was never released on 12" vinyl, this was the only vinyl release of Three Snakes And One Charm. I just recently read that the Black Crowes first four albums will be re-issued this December.

Cover Song Of The Day Jan.11th (Wilco doing The Band "The Weight")

Today's cover song is Wilco with Mavis Staples and Nick Lowe covering The Band's song "The Weight".

The song was filmed and recorded during rehearsal backstage at the Civic Opera House in Chicago in December 2011. I think it's a great version.
