 It was on Halloween night October 31st, 1992 that I saw Edmonton's metal band Mary Prankster play the Golden Garter here in Edmonton.

November 15th

  

 Back on November 15th, 1990 I saw the British rock band Sweet play The Metro in Edmonton with opening band local metal band Mary Prankster.

June 29th

  

 On June 29th, 1991 I saw my friend's band Mary Prankster play the Riviera Rock Room in Edmonton. Mary Prankster were a local heavy metal band that rocked the scene between 1984-1992 before calling it quits.

February 24th

 

This show on February 24th, 1990 is still one of the top ten shows  have ever been to. L.A. Guns with local bands Killing Time and Mary Prankster at The Metro in Edmonton. Holy shit between the booze, weed, hash, mushrooms, acid and blow going around at this show it's a wonder any of us remember it. L.A. Guns were touring for their sophomore album Locked & Loaded which was a great follow up to their debut album. The afternoon of this show the band L.A. Guns did an autograph session at HMV in West Edmonton Mall in which myself a few buddies attended. Got my album autographed and met the guys. This was one hell of a day and night. Good times!!!

It was twenty-three years ago today that I saw Sweet with local rockers Mary Prankster play The Metro here in Edmonton.

And it was twelve years ago today that I saw Merle Haggard play the Skyreach Centre in Edmonton.

29 Years Ago Today...October 31st

It was twenty-nine years ago today that I went to my very first concert. This was the Canadian metal double bill of Helix and Kick Axe at the Golden Garter in Edmonton.

Also on this day twenty-one years ago, I saw local metal band Mary Prankster play the Golden Garter.

And it was eight years ago today that I saw Jon Spencer's band Heavy Trash with The Sadies opening and then backing up Heavy Trash play the Sidetrack Café here in Edmonton.

It was twenty-two years ago today that I saw the local metal band Mary Prankster play at the Riviera Rock Room here in Edmonton.

Also on this day ten years ago, I saw Wilco with Neko Case play in Montreal at the Metropolis.

Also on this day seven years ago, I saw Wilco with opening band Elliott Brood play the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton.

As well on this day, two years ago I saw the Black Keys play at Edmonton at Rexall Place.

In concert news...Elliot Brood will be playing in Edmonton on Sunday July 28th as part of the Interstellar Rodeo Festival at Hawrelak Park. Also Neko Case will be playing in Edmonton at the Edmonton Folk Festival on Friday August 9th.

23 Years Ago Today...Feb.24th

It was twenty-three years ago today that I saw one of the craziest concert I have ever attended. L.A. Guns with local rockers Mary Prankster and Killing Time at the Metro here in Edmonton. Anyone that was at this show will tell you it was fuckin' nuts. Good times!!!







It was twelve years ago today that I also saw the Supersuckers play Edmonton at New City Likwid Lounge, again another amazing concert.





Also on this day nineteen years ago today I saw vancouver band Mushroom Trail play at the Bronx in Edmonton.

21 Years Ago Today...Jan.19th

It was twenty-one years ago today that I saw local metal band Mary Prankster play at Rock Central here in Edmonton. I had met the bass player Shane at a bus stop one morning while smoking one and got to know him over the years. A great guy and fun band to see live.

Ticket Stub Of The Day Aug.21st (Mary Prankster)

Today's ticket stub is from the time I saw local metal band Mary Prankster play a show at Rock Central Station in Edmonton. This show was in 1992. Rcok Central was a dive of a bar but a fun place to see a show, and if the band sucked, which Mary Prankster didn't, but if so, you could always go upstairs to the peeler bar Pinky's. All and all this was a fun show what I remember of it. Good times!!!

Ticket Stub Of The Day June 1st (Mary Prankster)

Today's ticket stub is from an album release show my buddy Nerraw and I went to in 1991 at The Riviera Rock Room in Edmonton. The show was for a local metal band called Mary Prankster whom I was friends with at the time. We had a great time at this show, such a good time that I lost my friend on the walk home. he woke up early the next morning in the back of a pick up truck in a used car lot on Calgary Trail. Good times!!!

Ticket Stub Of The Day Jan.14th (Sweet)

Today's ticket stub is from The Sweet concert Hurl,Nerraw and I went to in 1990 at The Metro in Edmonton. Opening band was a local metal band called Mary Prankster who also put on a decent show. There were only two original members in Sweet at the time that we saw them guitarist Andy Scott and drummer Mick Tucker, on vocals was Malcolm McNulty who I thought did an awesome job. This was a great show and damn good time too.

After the show we had invited opening band Mary Prankster (I was friends with a few of the members) over to our house for a party. Well, we got so damn drunk at this show, that by the time the band showed up with a van load full of women, we had passed out and missed out on what would have probably been a real good time. Snooze you lose as the saying goes.

Concert Shirt/Poster Of The Day Nov.7th (Mary Prankster)

Today's t-shirt is from an old local Edmonton metal band from the late 80's early 90's, the band was called "Mary Prankster". Not the most original name, but good guys that played a fun party type metal. While they never really got big, they did have a good following in Edmonton, and did get some good gigs opening for such bands as LA Guns,Sweet and SNFU and shared the stage with many other local bands.

I got this t-shirt from the time I saw them headline a Halloween show at the old Golden Garter on the Northlands grounds back in 1991 I believe.

Funny story how I got to get to know these guys. I met the bass player Shane Kozack at a bus stop one morning while waiting for the bus to go to work. I happened to be smoking one while waiting when he could smell the good shit burning. He joined me in a wake and bake session while waiting. We got to talking and hit it off quite well. He had told me about a band he played in and invited me down to their rehearsal space (a garage on 99st) where I got to meet the rest of the band Wayne Bock on vocals, Gene Cazes on guitar, Rick Reynolds on guitar and Franko Holub on drums. All the guys were super nice and treated me good, I used to have a lot of fun going to watch these guys jam and drink beers with them. Where are you guys now and what are you doing? Anyone know? Be fun to see a reunion show.
