July 5th
While visiting my brother in Montreal in 2003, we made the trip to Ottawa on July 5th, 2003 to see Elvis Costello and The Imposters play the Ottawa Bluesfest. A great show, and after his set we caught some of Daniel Lanois's set on one of the side stages. Good times!!!

Seven Inch Sunday (Elvis Costello and The Attractions)
Today's seven inch single is from Elvis Costello and the Attractions. This single is a reissue that was released on Record Store Day in 2010. It is a limited edition release numbered 1126, although I have no idea how many of these were pressed. The release is called Live At Hollywood High and was recorded live on June 14th 1978 in Hollywood, California. The three songs on it are Pump It Up on Side One and Lip Service and Waiting For The End Of The World on Side Two. Click on the links below to hear the songs.

19 Years Ago Today...July 23rd
It was nineteen years ago today that I saw the band Cry Of Love perform at Peoples Pub in Edmonton.
Also on this day, ten years ago, I saw Elvis Costello play the Jubilee Auditorium here in Edmonton.
And on this day two years ago, I saw the Los Fabulocos and Hillbilly Casino perform here in Edmonton on the outdoor stage they had set up for race week on Rice Howard Way.

It was twelve years ago today that I made the trip to Calgary for the Vans Warped Tour. Some of the bands I went to see were Rancid, Pennywise, Bouncing Souls among many others.
Also on this day, ten years ago,I was in Ottawa to see the Ottawa Blues Fest, in which I got to see Elvis Costello perform.
In concert news...Rancid will be playing in Edmonton with opening act the Transplants at the Shaw Conference Centre on Tuesday July 16th.

Concert Shirt/Posters Of The Day July 29th (Ottawa Blues Fest.)
Today's t-shirt is from the Ottawa Blues Festival I went to in 2003 with my Brother (Citrus) and Lorreine. I had gone to Montreal with Lorreine to visit my brother while he lived there. We decided to make a day trip to Ottawa to catch Elvis Costello and The Imposters at the Festival. This was my first time being in Ottawa and first time seeing Elvis Costello in concert.
My brother was able to get us in to the show for free, as he was working for a record distribution company at the time and knew some of the vendors at the festival. He was able to snaggle a few free tickets for the show. We got there in the afternoon and caught some of Sonny Landreth's set and then next was Elvis. Elvis Costello put on an amazing show.
Setlist for Ottawa show.
01. I Hope You're Happy Now
02. Tear Off Your Own Head (It's A Doll Revolution)
03. Everyday I Write The Book
04. (The Angels Wanna Wear My) Red Shoes
05. Everybody's Crying Mercy
06. Clubland
07. Clown Strike
08. Pump It Up
09. Dust
10. Either Side Of The Same Town
11. I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down
12. Uncomplicated
13. Tart
14. Deep Dark Truthful Mirror / You Really Got A Hold On Me
Encore 1
15. Watching The Detectives
16. Alison
17. Beyond Belief
18. Radio, Radio
19. (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding?
After Elvis' set we caught some of Daniel Lanois show as well. I really enjoyed the little bit of this festival that we did see. Great set up, lots of beer tents, good crowd and great bands. I would love to have the chance to go to the Ottawa Blues Festival again. Good times!!!

Ticket Stub Of The Day Mar.18th (Elvis Costello)
Today's ticket stub is from the second time I saw Elvis Costello in concert. This show was in 2003 at The Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton. I had seen Costello a few weeks before this in Ottawa with a full band, this show was just Elvis and his piano player Steve Nieve. I went to this show with my buddy A-Bomb, I had won tickets to the show from the Edmonton Sun. Another great concert.
