March 9th

  The ticket stub and ad from the time I saw Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar with his Texas based band Grady play Cook County Saloon in Edmonton on March 9th, 2005. This was one of only two times I stepped foot in this country themed bar. It was well worth it though. Opening this show was Todd Kerns of Age Of Electric and another band called Driver that I remember nothing about.

December 5th

November 24th

  The gig poster from the November 24th, 2010 guitar clinic I saw Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar and Grady fame do in Edmonton. This clinic was originally supposed to be at Avenue Guitars but was moved to a conference room at the Varscona Hotel just a few doors down. This was super cool to see Gordie Johnson in such an intimate setting as a small ballroom with maybe a dozen people in attendance. Was neat see him play sitting on a chair within a few feet and getting to ask him questions and get his autograph. Good times!!!

October 28th

  On October 28th, 2005 I saw Grady play at Red's in West Edmonton Mall. With the Murder City Sparrows opening. This was a rocker of a show for sure!

October 21st

  Back on October 21st, 2009 I saw Grady rock the hell out of the Pawn Shop here in Edmonton. This was a rocker of a show. I wish Grady who was led by Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar were still a band. They were so damn good!

April 17th

 On April 17th, 2010 that I saw Grady (2003-2022) which was a band that Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar started in Texas. I saw them play the Starlite Room in Edmonton. What an amazing rocking show this was.

11 Years Ago Today...November 24th

It was eleven years ago today that I saw John Prine play the Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton.

And it was three years ago today that I saw Gordie Johnson of Big Sugar and Grady fame do a guitar clinic at the Varscona Hotel here in Edmonton. This show was advertised to be at Avenue Guitars, but when I went to the store there was a note saying it had been moved tot he hotel. The show was done in a small conference room with maybe 20 people there. A very cool intimate show to see.

16 Years Ago Today...October 28th

It was sixteen years ago today that I saw Jethro Tull play the Jubilee Auditorium here in Edmonton.

And it was eight years ago today that I saw Grady play Red's in Edmonton.

Seven years ago today I saw The Sadies with Greg Keelor of Blue Rodeo play the Power Plant here in Edmonton.

And it was two years ago today that I saw the Los Lobos with Leeroy Stagger opening play the Century Casino in Edmonton.

In concert news...Blue Rodeo will be playing in Edmonton on Friday January 17th and Saturday January 18th at the Jubilee Auditorium.

21 Years Ago Today...October 21st

It was twenty-one years ago today that I saw Canadian ska band King Apparatus play the Bronx in Edmonton.

And it was seven years ago today that I saw Hatebreed play the Starlite Room here in Edmonton.

And it was four years ago today that I saw Grady play the Pawn Shop in Edmonton.

19 Years Ago Today...July 15th

It was nineteen years ago today that I saw Big Sugar play Peoples Pub in Edmonton.

As well it was eighteen years ago today that I went to the Another Roadside Attraction show in High River, Alberta. This show included the Tragically Hip, Ziggy Marley, Blues Traveler, Matthew Sweet and many others.

And it was fourteen years ago today that I saw Pavement play in Vancouver at the Vogue Theatre.

It was also on this day eight years ago that I saw Grady play here in Edmonton at Cowboys.

19 Years Ago Today...April 17th

It was nineteen years ago today that I saw Wild T and The Spirit play at Peoples Pub here in Edmonton.



As well it was three years ago today that I saw Grady perform at the Starlite Room here in Edmonton.





In concert news...Wild T and The Spirit will be playing at Blues On Whyte the weekend of July 18th.19th and 20th.

15 Years Ago Today...Mar.9th

It was fifteen years ago today that I saw Steve Earle play at the Winspear Centre here in Edmonton. The night before my brother saw him play Calgary and got to go backstage and meet Steve Earle. Much to my surprise, a week later I got an autographed picture that my bro got for me. I ended up getting it framed. Thanks Citrus :)







It was also fourteen years ago today that I saw Less Than Jake play Edmonton at the Arts Barn.





As well on this day eight years ago, I saw Grady play the Cook County Saloon here in Edmonton.

Ticket Stub Of The Day Oct.13th (Grady)

Today's ticket stub is from the fifth time I saw Texas band Grady in concert. This show was in 2009 at The Pawn Shop in Edmonton. A great venue to see Grady at. I went to this show with my buddy A-Bomb. Good times!!!





In concert news... Gordie Johnson the guitar player in Grady will be playing in Edmonton with his old band Big Sugar at the Edmonton Events Centre on Thursday November 3rd with opening act Wide Mouth Mason, whom Gordie also plays bass for.

Ticket Stub Of The Day June 12th (Grady)

Today's ticket stub is from the third time I saw Texas based band Grady in concert. This show was in 2007 at Jet Nightclub in Edmonton with local rockers Murder City Sparrows opening. Gordie and the boys rocked the shit out of this venue that night, balls to the wall rock n' roll. I went to this with Cuz.

While this show rocked and I liked the venue. It was after the show where it all went to shit. It was a freezing December winter night, about 30 below out and trying to get a cab out of there was a joke. I went outside to get cab, my Cuz got a cab right away, but there were no more around. I tried going back in to the venue to call a cab. The dumb ass bouncer at the door wouldn't let me back in. I told him I wanted to call a cab, as I don't have a cell phone. The phone they had at the exit was broken, so I asked if he would call a cab for me. Well, the fucker wouldn't do it, he told me to wait outside for a cab. Well after a half hour of that, and no cabs, I am freezing my fuckin' ass off. I went again to try and get in the venue to ask someone to call a cab for me. Again, denied, I finally after a bunch of bullshit, finally asked for a manager to talk to and explain the situation. I finally did get a manager, I told him how I had been treated, and told him, all I want is cab so that I could get home. The guy I talked to was good, and in minutes I had a cab. A lot of bullshit for just trying to get home. To say the least, I was not impressed and the manager didn't seem to happy with his employees either. The problem was finally fixed and I did get home about an hour and a half after the show. No wonder this venue didn't last long.



In concert news...Gordie Johnson the guitar player and vocalist for Grady, will be playing in Edmonton at Capital Ex this summer on Sunday July 24th with his old rocking reggae band Big Sugar with fellow Canadian rockers Wide Mouth Mason opening.

Also in Big Sugar news, looks like they will be releasing their first new album since 2001. The new album will be called "Revolution Per Minute", can't wait to hear this.
