Altameda Live in Edmonton March 31st 2022
The next show I saw was at the Starlite Room with Altameda headlining. This show was part of the Winterruption YEG 2022 Festival. The Starlite Room had both of their stages going for this show, the backroom which is called The Temple. I went to this show with Cuz and Buzzard.
Starting the evening of music on the Temple stage which is the smaller of the two stages at the Starlite Room was Jillian Lake out of Vancouver. Her music was very folkish and wasn't really to my liking.
Jillian Lake
Next up on the Starlite stage was Toronto based singer/songwriter Julian Taylor a folk roots soul style of music. Again, nothing that struck a chord with me.

Back to the Temple stage, this time for ex Edmonton musician now based in Toronto Eamon McGrath. Now this is the shit. This was my second time seeing Eamon in concert and he and his band kicked ass. Awesome rock n' roll. Big fan of these guys I am. Very impressive!
Eamon McGrath
Headlining the evening was another Edmonton band now based out of Toronto as well Altameda. This would be my 13th time seeing the band perform. Altameda released their newest album Born Losers earlier in 2022. At first I wasn't sure what to make of the new album as it is a much more chill album then their last one but after a few listens it is an amazing album, one of my favourites of 2022. And then to see and hear the band play the new stuff live, well they kicked ass. The new stuff sounds amazing. A great performance once again from Altameda. It was also really nice to hang with lead singer/guitarist Troy Snaterse after the show. Good times!!!

The Bobby Tenderloin Universe Live in Edmonton March 24th 2022
The day after seeing The Darkness I was off to see a local band called The Bobby Tenderloin Universe play the Starlite Room. Yes, things were starting to happen in the live music scene again, yay!!!!
This would be my second time seeing The Bobby Tenderloin Universe perform. I went to this show with my buddy Buzzard.
Opening the show was singer/songwriter Skinny Dyck from Lethbridge, Alberta. I would describe his music as old school country. I enjoyed his set.
Skinny Dyck.
Next up was the seven piece Edmonton band The Bobby Tenderloin Universe. Again music in the country vain but with a twist. While watching and listening to this band you get a feeling of spiritual goodness. This band is so much fun to see live. I highly recommend checking them out. Good times!!!

The Darkness Live in Edmonton March 23rd 2022
This show with The Darkness at Union Hall was rescheduled after being postponed because of, well you know. Originally it was for April 2020. I had never seen The Darkness before so was looking forward to it.
Opening the show was a three piece band called The Dead Deads out of Nashville. I had never heard of the band before but got there early to check them out. They were pretty damn good actually.
The Dead Deads.
Headliner was British rockers The Darkness, I've always wanted to see this band and finally got my chance to see them play live and they didn't disappoint. I loved their 2003 album Permission To Land and then kind of forgot about them after their 2005 album One Way Ticket To Hell... And Back. The band have released 5 albums since 2012 including the 2021 album Motorheart in which they were touring for when I saw them.
Lead singer Justin Hawkins can still sing like a motherfucker, I was very impressed with is stage presence and his voice. The whole band was great even though they played to a half full venue. It was the old songs from their debut album Permission To Land that really had the crowd singing along. All and all a very fun show. Good times!!!
