Lemmy Book Review

Well, I finally got around to reading the Lemmy Kilmister biography (White Line Fever) released in 2002 wrote by Lemmy with help from Janiss Garza. My brother got me this book for my birthday (thanks Citrus) as I couldn't find a copy here in Edmonton.

This is the biography of Lemmy from the band Motorhead, I have followed Motorhead for many years, but really didn't know a whole lot about him. If your a fan of the band, this is a must read. The book starts from his days growing up in England and getting into music and then joining the psychedelic 60's band Hawkwind playing bass for them, even though he had no idea how to play the instrument. He also talks a bit about being a roadie for Jimi Hendrix back in the 60's while Jimi was touring England, that's kind of a neat story. Then finally he takes you through all the years in his own band Motorhead. With lots of stories about drinking and drugs and playing and touring with other bands. Even a few stories about him touring with Alice Cooper in 1988, which is the year and tour I very first saw Motorhead play live,

The guy has a got a great sense of humour and feels like someone you could sit and have beers with and talk with, then of course Lemmy would bring out the speed and you would be up for 3 days talking and listening to stories. And Lemmy has got stories, from hanging and meeting different musicians, and stories of women, for such an ugly, he sure has had his fair share of women, or so he says anyways.

If your a fan of Motorhead or even just heavy metal, this is a book well worth picking up. A fun quick read.

I am looking forward to seeing Lemmy:The Movie, that should be interesting.
