Tom Petty Book Review

This book wrote by Paul Zollo called Conversations With Tom Petty (2005 on Omnibus Press) is exactly that. It's a book of interviews collaborated by Paul Zollo that is pretty much a biography but all just done by interviews. He asks some interesting questions that I am not sure Tom would really write about had he wrote this book himself. It covers Tom Petty's whole career from his start in Gainesville, Florida with his band Mudcrutch right up to 2005's release of Tom's box set. There are lots of talk about the couple albums he did with The Traveling Wilburys, touring with Bob Dylan back in 1983 and hanging out with George Harrison and Ringo Starr. I actually learned a few things about Petty in this book as the writer Paul Zollo is without a doubt a huge fan of Petty and surely did a lot of research with his questions. I found the last third of the book to drag a bit as they go over almost every tune Tom Petty has recorded, as in where he wrote, where he recorded it, who played on it, nothing wrong with that, I just found it to get a little boring after a while.

If your a fan of Tom Petty I recommend buying this book.

In concert news... Tom Petty with Opener Joe Cocker will be playing in Edmonton at Rexall Place this Wednesday June 16th.
