Last Friday my buddy Buzzard and I went to the Ben & Noel Haggard concert at River Cree Casino. This would be my second time seeing them in concert. Ben (26 years old) and Noel (56 years old) are the sons of the late great legendary country rebel Merle Haggard.
Ben and Noel do a great job of keeping the legacy of their father Merle alive and kicking. They played lots of old great country songs including some of Merle's songs of course. Ben did the majority of the singing and is a bad ass guitar player, having played in Merle's band from the age of fifteen until the passing of Merle in 2016. On this night older brother Noel looked and sounded like he had pretty good buzz on.
With the venue about three quarters full, those in attendance looked to be having a good time singing along to such songs as "Mama Tried” and "Sing Me Back Home" and "Okie From Muskogee" plus many others like "I Think I'll Just Stay here And Drink", "Workin' Man Blues" and "Today I Started Loving You Again". All and all a fun night out. Good times!!!
